A few days from the February Mixed Sale, ARQANA continues to expand its network of international representatives with the appointment of Matias Villamil in South America. It is the first time the Deauville-based sales company is fitting itself with a business representative in that part of the world.
32-year-old Matias Villamil lives in Buenos Aires and belongs to the third generation of breeders in a family deeply involved in the thoroughbred industry. After four years of working for Argentina’s leading sales company, Antonio Bullrich SA, he started his own bloodstock sales business, Villamil Remates, a year ago while continuing to run the family’s Rodeo Chico stud farm along with his brothers. Established in San Antonio de Areco, the focal point of thoroughbred breeding in Argentina, the farm is home to 40 broodmares and 4 stallions including St James’s Palace Stakes winner Most Improved. By an amusing twist of fate, this son of Lawman out of Tonnara was bred by Ecurie des Monceaux and Ecurie Skymarc Farm and bought for €65,000 by Angie Sykes at the ARQANA August Yearling Sale. Matias Villamil also acts as a bloodstock agent for numerous clients.
